Gatineau, March 24, 2024 — For the second year in a row, the SPCA de l’Outaouais and SPA mobile du Québec are joining forces to offer a low-cost feline sterilization opportunity to the citizens of the Outaouais!

The event will be held at the shelter (132 rue de Varennes, Gatineau) on Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4, 2025.

Eligible citizens (see conditions below) will be able to have their cat sterilized for $75. The SPCA de l’Outaouais will cover the remaining costs and will also provide the microchip, the basic vaccine (FVR) and the deworming treatment for the animals that will be sterilized on that day. Places will be limited and allocated by lottery.

The initiative is aimed at low-income households in the Outaouais region. Households that believe they fall into this category and whose total income was less than $60,000 in 2024 can fill out the online form to express their interest.

Each household will be able to have a maximum of one cat sterilized. The owner must be available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. to bring the animal and pick it up after the procedure.

This initiative aims to promote the health and well-being of cats by offering sterilization services at an affordable price for members of our community. Cat sterilization has many advantages, including reducing feline overpopulation, preventing unwanted behavior and promoting better animal health.

We thank you for your continued support of the animal cause and hope to see many of you on this important day!

About SPA mobile du Québec

The primary mission of SPA mobile du Québec (in French only) is to help organize microchipping and targeted sterilization clinics in order to combat animal overpopulation.

The SPA mobile du Québec therefore works directly with various shelters, animal rescues, non-profit organizations that help people, municipalities, etc. However, individuals can also call on us to control an overpopulation of cats on their property (for example, an overpopulation of barn cats).

The second mission of the SPA mobile du Québec is to take care of cats in order to treat them and find them a family for life.
