Adoptions & customer service

The first faces you’ll see when you arrive at the SPCA de l’Outaouais! Our team of advisors and receptionists is always ready to welcome you and help you find THE perfect furry friend.

Thanks to our expertise in animal behavior, we can provide you with advice and answer all your questions, even after adoption. For a positive and reassuring experience, come and see us!

Pet care

Our animal care experts are soft-hearted heroes brimming with affection for our four-legged companions! Every day, with a unique blend of skill and tenderness, they provide our vulnerable residents with basic care and ensure their comfort.

Their unfailing dedication creates a warm environment where every animal feels loved and safe. They are the guardians of the joy and well-being of our precious residents!

Animal health

Our invaluable veterinarians, animal health technicians and assistant technicians treat each animal that arrives at the shelter with dedication and sensitivity, whatever their condition.

Their technical expertise is unrivalled, but what really sets them apart is their boundless compassion and unwavering love for every animal that comes through our doors. Always ready to provide the highest quality care, they ensure that every head is petted, every neck scratched and every paw tended to.

Internal management

This department manages the waiting list of animals requiring a place in the shelter. In the interests of optimal well-being for each resident, it is essential not to overload our facilities.

This team is responsible for developing an individual plan for each new arrival at the shelter. They are in close communication with our partners, including Algonquin College and some PetSmarts, to ensure that solutions are tailored to each individual case.

Specialized services

In addition to fostering, caring for and placing for adoption thousands of animals every year, our team offers a wide range of specialized services designed to support animal welfare in all its facets.

From the warmth of a temporary home offered by our foster program to the heartwarming reunion of lost pets and their families through our dedicated lost and found pets service, to ensuring legal compliance and identification of our four-legged friends via our licence management, we are committed to offering a full range of services to meet all the needs of our most precious companions.

With every meow, bark and purr, we’re there to support you and offer a helping hand.

Patrol

The patrol team is dedicated to responding quickly and effectively to calls from citizens faced with difficult situations involving our four-legged friends.

Their mission is not only to respond to emergencies, but also to ensure strict compliance with animal welfare laws. Some members of our team are also qualified as MAPAQ (ministère de l’Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l’Alimentation du Québec) inspectors, enabling them to carry out in-depth inspections in cases of cruelty or neglect.

Always ready to lend a hand, our patrollers are there to assist in transporting animals or to handle delicate situations with calm and skill. With their unfailing dedication, they ensure that every cry for help is heard and every animal is protected.

Administration

This department brings together several key members of our team, including the executive director, the director of operations, the human resources advisor, the communications manager, the bookkeeper and the administrative assistant. Their collaboration ensures the smooth day-to-day running of our shelter, supporting our mission to care for animals in the best possible way.

In addition, we rely on several team leaders whose expertise and dedication help ensure that every aspect of our operation, from welcoming new residents to placing them in loving new homes, is carried out with professionalism and compassion.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is one of the pillars of our organization, made up of dedicated and experienced members from diverse backgrounds. With a shared passion for animal welfare, they bring a wide range of expertise, from management and finance to law and business.

Guided by our mission and values, Board members work closely with the management team to set long-term goals, evaluate performance and ensure that our actions are aligned with our vision. Their unwavering commitment and strategic vision are essential to ensuring that we continue to make a meaningful difference to the lives of the animals and communities we serve.
