Adopting with us means choosing compassion.

You’re giving a second chance !

When you adopt from the SPCA de l’Outaouais, you’re giving a second chance to a cat, dog or small animal in real need. If you’re looking for a furry friend to give a loving home for life, you’ve come to the right place!

Attention : Adopting a pet is a long-term commitment. If you’re looking for advice on how to choose your new companion, check out our “Choosing the right pet” section!

Adoption procedures

No appointment is necessary to adopt at the SPCA de l’Outaouais. Simply drop by the shelter during our opening hours! When you arrive, you’ll receive a comprehensive consultation with one of our adoption consultants, who can help you find your new friend for life.

Please allow at least 1 hour for a cat or small animal consultation and 1h30 for a dog consultation. Please note that for dog adoptions, all members of the household must be present at the meeting, including your other dogs if you have any.

You can leave with your new companion as soon as the consultation is over!

To optimize the process, follow these steps:

Step 1

Take a look at our boarders’ profiles (cats, dogs or small animals).

Step 2

If one of them catches your eye, come to the shelter during our opening hours to meet him!

Please note that the animal you are interested in may no longer be available at the time of your visit.

To maximize your chances of meeting one of our residents, we invite you to come to the shelter no later than 3pm.

For dog adoptions, all members of the household must be present at the meeting, including your other dogs if you have any.

Step 3

If you’d like to adopt an animal from a foster home, please fill out the form on their profile and we’ll contact you to make an appointment. We respond to requests from Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.

Step 4

One of our consultants will accompany you to meet the animal and provide you with all the information you need. She’ll be able to answer any questions you may have, and discuss the steps you’ll need to take to ensure your pet’s smooth and easy integration into your home!

Step 5

Go home with your new friend for life. Congratulations!
