The SPCA de l’Outaouais is here to help and offer you the best possible support in this difficult transition.
If you live in an area not served by the SPCA de l’Outaouais, contact your municipal office to find out how to proceed.

Before entrusting your pet to us, we strongly encourage you to explore all options for relocating it yourself. Word-of-mouth and social networks are excellent ways to find a new home for your pet! By taking this initiative, you can offer your pet a smoother transition and avoid the stress of a shelter stay.
Photos can make all the difference in someone falling in love with your pet, so take the time to select some nice ones!
There may be a delay of several weeks before we can take in your pet, as we want to have the space we need to accommodate your pet properly! We will contact you to add you to our waiting list for an appointment.
As of September 2024, there is no longer a mandatory surrender fee (previously $35). However, donations are welcome to help us cover the costs of veterinary care and boarding!
You will be asked to show proof of identity when you arrive at the shelter.
Upon arrival at the shelter, your pet will be cared for by our competent team dedicated to animal welfare.
Every animal that comes to us receives a health check-up and appropriate care. What guides us is the animal’s well-being! We make all our decisions with this in mind.
At the SPCA de l’Outaouais, no animal is euthanized because it has been at the shelter “too long”. Euthanasia only takes place when it is the most compassionate option for the animal’s long-term well-being.
By respecting our procedure for entrusting your pet to us, you contribute to the smooth running of the shelter and enable us to give each resident all the attention he or she deserves!
