Register my pet

To reunite you if he ever gets lost!

Thanks to the licence, we can reunite you with your pet if he ends up at the shelter.

Make sure your pet always wears his licence around his neck. Your pet’s licence must be renewed annually to comply with municipal regulations.

Need a helping paw? Contact us at licences@spcaoutaouais.ca or call us at 819-243-2004, option 3.

For details on licence fees and the number of animals allowed per municipality, select your municipality from the list below.

If you are moving, need to make a change to your file or wish to purchase a replacement medal, please check out our frequently asked questions below.

Due to the Canada Post national strike, the mailing of medallions has been suspended. You can either wait until the strike ends or go directly to the shelter to pick up your pet’s new medallion.

What are licences for?

Several municipalities have decided to make cat and dog registration mandatory. There are several reasons for this:

  • To reunite lost pets with their owners
  • To finance services offered to pet owners and the general public (e.g., stray care, surrenders, etc.).
  • For statistics on pets

Failure to comply with the municipal by-laws may result in fines ranging from $300 to $1,000 for a first offence. Licences are valid from January 1er to December 31 and must be renewed before that date.

The licence complements the microchip, which is another great way to find your furry friend if he gets lost!
