Hi, my name is Selena! ❤️
I am a young female dog who was found wandering, and we are slowly discovering my personality at the shelter. I am a mix of bulldog/mastiff and terrier, full of life, curious, and very endearing. With my future family, I will become a dynamic and affectionate companion, ready to share wonderful adventures. 🐾
I am suitable for motivated first-time adopters who are willing to invest time in my training. I can live with children aged 6 and up, but interactions will need to be carefully managed, as I love to chase anything that moves quickly and makes noise… it’s just too exciting for me! Barriers or close supervision will be important.
I could probably live with other dogs, ideally with a friend of the opposite sex. However, I can be selective with some of my fellow dogs, so gradual introductions with breaks and supervision will be necessary. Cats, on the other hand, are not a good match for me: my predatory instinct is too strong.
I am looking for an active family who loves to move and plans to devote time each day to training, education, and, if necessary, taking classes with a professional. A house rather than an apartment or condo is preferable, as I can be vocal when strangers arrive. A fenced yard would be ideal so I can exercise safely! 💥
My energy level is moderate: about an hour of exercise a day will do me good, combined with long walks, hikes, games in the yard, and lots of chewing activities. I will need to learn the basics and house training with patience and consistency.
I let myself be handled, but I have a slight reluctance in certain areas, especially around my head if someone I don’t know approaches with their hands too quickly. With gentle work and positive associations, I will be able to progress in this area.
At the shelter, we have observed that I can pull on the leash, jump on people, and bark when I see strangers. In my enclosure, when someone walks by, I can become very intense: I bark, jump on the door, stare, sometimes growl, and have trouble calming down, especially when faced with strangers or other dogs in the distance. It is possible that these behaviors may recur in a home or during walks, and my future family will need to be prepared to work on this with guidance and consistency!
Despite all that, I am a very sweet, playful, and gentle little dog with my family. I love chasing moving toys and getting attention. I have lived with another dog before, which suggests that cohabitation could be possible with a proper introduction. I have bursts of energy typical of my breed, followed by calmer moments. My coat is very short, so I’ll need protection in very cold weather.
I’m looking for a committed, patient family who is ready to help me become the best version of myself… in exchange, I’ll offer you lots of love, enthusiasm, and wonderful moments snuggled up close. 💛
