Hi there, I’m Athena! 🐾

I was surrendered to the shelter because my family didn’t have enough time to spend with me anymore. I’m a herding-type dog, possibly a Border Collie or Australian Shepherd mix.

I absolutely love people! I’m very energetic, but I stay close to whoever’s walking me and I love cuddling with them. Despite my energy, I’m gentle, affectionate, and pretty quiet at the shelter.

I could be an excellent first dog for a family looking to learn about the needs of herding-type dogs. However, some knowledge of these breeds would be a big plus. With my enthusiasm, I might be a bit too energetic for younger children, so it’s important to have a family that can provide guidance for my interactions with kids.

I may be able to live with another dog, provided there’s a preliminary meeting and a gradual introduction. My compatibility with cats hasn’t been tested.

I’m looking for an active family and a home where a fenced yard is highly recommended. I have high energy and need to be able to move around, explore, and be part of my family’s life.

Long walks, hikes, brain-teasing plays, and dog sports are right up my alley! 🌲🏃 I also love having appropriate chew toys to keep me occupied.

My little challenge? I might be tempted to go after other dogs, and I could try to chase or herd small animals or children who are running. This behavior can be managed with proper guidance and activities tailored to my herding instincts.
