French is the primary working language at the SPCA de l’Outaouais. Fluency in spoken French is required for this position.

About the Position

As part of a nonprofit organization dedicated to animal welfare and at the heart of a vital community mission, the veterinarian will join a passionate team of veterinarians and animal health technicians (AHTs).

The position offers stimulating challenges unique to a shelter environment and actively contributes to the ongoing evolution of practices and standards of care.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct medical examinations and provide follow-up care for sheltered animals.
  • Perform high-volume spay/neuter procedures, including those carried out as part of the Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program.
  • Perform various surgical procedures (e.g., amputations, enucleations).
  • Collaborate closely with the team to establish and adjust treatment plans following examinations and follow-ups.
  • Provide tailored recommendations to adopters.
  • Opportunity to be involved in cases under the jurisdiction of the MAPAQ.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.
  • Member in good standing of the OMVQ.
  • Fluency in French.
  • Bilingualism (a plus).
  • Experience in shelter medicine and/or high-volume spay/neuter programs (a plus).
