Sandy
All our dogs are sterilized, microchipped, vaccinated and dewormed.
Hi there, I’m the lovely Sandy! 💛
I’m a stray dog, a Belgian Shepherd mix.
I’m a calm and attentive companion, curious about my surroundings without being overly so. I have a calm temperament at the shelter and am able to focus well once I understand what’s expected of me.
I need a family with some experience with herding-type dogs, capable of providing me with gentle structure. For children, a home with teenagers aged 12 and older is recommended, as I can be lively and my size might be intimidating to younger children.
I can live with other dogs depending on how we get along. I need gradual introductions and an environment where my cues are respected. I haven’t been tested with cats or other animals.
I thrive in a home with outdoor access and a fairly quiet environment, where comings and goings are limited. Long absences can cause me stress; I need presence and stability to feel comfortable.
I love walks, moments of discovery, and activities that stimulate my mind 🏃🌲. Food is a big motivator for me, which helps a lot with my training and playtime.
I still have a few small challenges to work on, like pulling a bit on the leash and managing my excitement around certain stimuli, but I’m making good progress with consistency and patience.
I am up for adoption due to my age, wear on my teeth, and stiffness in my hips; it is recommended to consult a veterinarian to establish a tailored dental care plan, possibly including X-rays, as well as a support plan for my joints to ensure my comfort and well-being.
I am a dog with a lot of potential, looking for a family ready to accompany me on my wonderful journey. With time and kindness, I can become an incredible and very loving companion ❤️✨
