Fluency in spoken French is required for this position.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The SPCA de l&#8217;Outaouais is looking for <b>animal caretakers<\/b> to join its dynamic team!<\/p>\n<p>Animal caretakers keep work areas clean, feed and handle the animals, ensure their well-being, and support the veterinary team as the first line of defense. They play an essential role in meeting the physical and emotional needs of the animals in their care.<\/p>\n<p><b><u>Job Type<\/u><\/b><\/p>\n<p>We currently have <b>two openings<\/b>:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <b>One full-time position<\/b>, during the day, on weekdays and weekends (approximately every other weekend or every third weekend);<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <b>One part-time position (16 hours per week)<\/b>, on Saturdays and Sundays.<\/p>\n<p>The starting salary for this position is <b>$17.00 per hour<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>Main Responsibilities<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide basic care for the animals according to established protocols<\/li>\n<li>Clean and disinfect cages, enclosures, and facilities daily<\/li>\n<li>Walk the dogs while following safety guidelines;<\/li>\n<li>Monitor the animals\u2019 general condition (appetite, stool, energy level, behavior);<\/li>\n<li>Record and report relevant information on the animals\u2019 behavior and progress during their stay;<\/li>\n<li>Participate in enrichment activities (walks, plays, stimulation) to promote the animals\u2019 well-being;<\/li>\n<li>Strictly follow care, hygiene, and safety protocols;<\/li>\n<li>Provide support to colleagues and collaborate with the health team as needed;<\/li>\n<li>Organize and keep storage areas tidy;<\/li>\n<li>Receive orders, verify their contents, and store them properly;<\/li>\n<li>Actively contribute to maintaining a safe, functional, and respectful work environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u><strong>Job Requirements<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n<p><em>Qualifications<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>High school diploma;<\/li>\n<li>Certificate as an animal caretaker (an asset).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Experience<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience in a similar position (an asset);<\/li>\n<li>Experience working with animals (an asset).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Knowledge and Skills<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to read and apply various protocols;<\/li>\n<li>Must be comfortable with food measurements, including fractions (e.g., a quarter cup), and able to convert quantities as needed;<\/li>\n<li>Fluency in French;<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of English (an asset);<\/li>\n<li>Good physical stamina;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work well under pressure;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to read and interpret feline and canine body language (an asset).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We are looking to fill these positions <b>as soon as possible<\/b>.
